Ahead of our event at London’s Alexandra Palace next week, we spoke to Ian Briggs (aka @irbheating on Twitter) about trade shows, social media and free pens…
1. What do you enjoy most about going to trade shows?
Going to trade shows is a great way to see what new products are on the market from companies you may or may not be familiar with. It’s also a great way to meet the people who make the products you use daily and gives you an opportunity to ask them questions or get some technical advice.
2. Do you usually have a budget in mind for what you’re going to spend at a show?
No, Never. I will go and take a look around and if I see something that I think is going to be beneficial to me and the way I work I will buy it.
3. What would you say to other tradespeople who aren’t sure whether visiting a show is worthwhile?
Ok, yes it is a day away from work BUT it’s a great opportunity to see new technologies coming to the market, you might see a product and think “I have a difficult job coming up and that will solve the problem”. There are always show deals to be had so you could also bag yourself a bargain, not to mention all the freebies. Who doesn’t love a free pen?
4. What are you most looking forward to about attending Toolfair and PlumbExpo?
I’m looking forward to meeting people from the ever expanding social media community, I hope to find a new product that would make my working life just that little bit easier and of course I will be grabbing some show deals.
Ian will be at Toolfair and PlumbExpo on 31st January, and the shows are also open on 1st February. Register for your free tickets today.
